Donald Steitz, our father, grandfather and husband passed from this world on Tuesday, April 10, 2012, in Fresno, California, at age 77. He was born on June 22, 1934, in Fresno to Germans from Russia immigrant Alex and Rose Steitz. He graduated from Edison High in 1952 and Fresno City College in 1954, lettering in basketball and baseball. In 1956, he married the love of his life, Diana Warner, and they lived in Fresno their whole life, where they raised three sons and two daughters.
Don owned and operated Don Steitz Distributing for 40 years. He was an avid Fresno State football and basketball fan, and a dedicated San Francisco Giants fan.
Don is survived by Diana, his wife of 55 years; his children, Kim Zuercher and her husband Robert; Keith Steitz, Ken Steitz and his wife Elaine, Kevin Steitz and his wife Karen, and Kerry Gardner and her husband Mark; ten grandchildren; four great-grand children; and two sisters, Verna Lung and Darlene Badella.
A Graveside Service will be held at Belmont Memorial Park, 201 N. Teilman, on Saturday, April 14, 2012, at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to St. Agnes Hospice.
