October 5, 1931 – November 26, 2022
Consuelo “Connie” (Fierro) Lara of Buena Park, CA passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 26,2022 to return to her home in heaven. She was cherished by loved ones for 91 years.
Connie Lara, born Consuelo Fierro on October 5,1931 in Somerton, AZ was the beloved daughter of the late Manuel and Apolonia (Maldonado) Fierro. She had fond memories of growing up in San Bernardino, CA with her three sisters and brother, and tagging along with her father on Santa Fe railroad trains where he worked. Listening to Dodger games on the radio was a favorite pastime. She married Rev. Isaias Lara in 1958 and raised a family of two boys, three girls, and almost 20 grand, great-grand, and great-great grandchildren.
Connie exuded a peaceful spirit that had a way of comforting anyone in need. It was always soothing to hear her sing while she went about her day. Especially if she was making tortillas. She made great use of this composure in her career as a nurse at the Queen of Angels hospital in Los Angeles, CA. As the Pastor’s wife for La Iglesia Santa Pentecostes Belen, her compassion extended to support the church. She loved reading her Bible and sharing her faith. Above all, she fully understood the power of prayer. That was her gift: using prayer to protect and bless each and every one of us.
Connie was preceded in eternal rest by her father, Manuel Fierro and mother, Apolonia (Maldonado) Fierro; former husband, Rev. Isaias Lara; siblings, Manuela “Nellie” Fierro and Antonio Fierro; grandchildren, Alex Fonseca and Sarah Lara.
She will be lovingly remembered by her two sisters, Hope Fierro and Mary (Fierro) Alfaro; five children, David A. Lara, Rev. Daniel Lara and wife Evelyn, Deborah (Lara) Moore and husband John, Elizabeth “Lisa” (Lara) Jack and husband Steve, and Priscilla Lara; eight grandchildren, Jessica Lara, Melissa Fonseca, John Lara and wife Eny, Mariah Lara, David D. Lara, Grace Karr, Joshua Moore, and Elias Jack; nine great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A life so beautiful deserves a special celebration. Family and friends are invited to help us celebrate her life at Victory Outreach East Fresno church, 1743 Van Ness Ave, Fresno, CA on December 15, 2022, beginning at 11 am. A viewing will begin before the service at 10 am for those interested. She will be laid to rest immediately after at the Belmont Memorial Park cemetery.
