Clifford was born in Shawnee Oklahoma in 1931. He was raised with his two brothers and two sisters in Riverdale California. He enlisted in the Navy after High School where he served during the Korean war and was trained as an Electrician’s Apprentice. After the Navy, Clifford began his career as an electrical engineer in the defense industry.
Clifford met Wilma Adams in Fresno and they were married September 8, 1956 on his 25th birthday. Cliff and Wilma moved to Sunnyvale California in 1958. They bought their home in Cupertino in 1961 where Cliff lived for 60 years until his death in May 2021. They had two sons Michael and David. His beloved Wilma died in October 1996 after 40 years of marriage.
Cliff loved camping and hiking and took his family on many vacations traveling throughout the western United States. In the 1970’s he served as a Boy Scout Scoutmaster mentoring and teaching young men about the outdoors, camping and survival skills. In his church, Cliff taught Jr High Boys in Sunday School and served as a leader in the Royal Ambassadors ministering to grade school and middle school boys. He taught them faith, missions, and upright values. Cliff later served as a church usher and drove bus for the church’s bus ministry. In his retirement years, Cliff was regularly at his church caring for and maintaining the facilities. Cliff became the handyman of choice for many in his church needing help with their home. Cliff also supported two orphans in Romania. He continued his support and remained in contact with them seeing them through trade school graduation.
Cliff’s greatest pleasure was always family. He loved spending time with his wife and boys, brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews. When it came to his granddaughters, he couldn’t get enough. He treasured them, bragged about them, pampered them, and looked for every opportunity to spend time with them. Jennifer and Nicole adored their grandpa who was always there for them, mentored them, came to their school events and soccer games, and always lived out his work ethic and Christian values in front of them.
Clifford was loved by all and will be missed.
A Graveside Service for Clifford will be held Friday, June 4, 2021 at 10:00am at Belmont Memorial Park, 201 N Teilman Ave, Fresno, California. A reception will follow.
