Chris Nelson, age 55, of Clovis, California passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2024. Chris was born in Fresno, California to Richard and Nancy Nelson. He is Survived by his Wife Ernestine, children Jared and Kristen as well as future son-in-law Josh Byers, mother Nancy, and brother Ray Medellin. He was loved by all of his family including Jefferey and Mary Lou Franco, Victor and Annette Dominguez including Sarah and Sophia Dominguez, and Jose and Tricia De La Torre including Ellie and Eric De La Torre.
Chris was a 10 year firefighter/paramedic and 25 year ER Tech at Adventist Medical Center Selma who was devoted to the service of his community. Chris attended Roosevelt high school where he graduated and went on to pursue a career in public safety, ultimately deciding on firefighting and was sworn in to Selma City Fire in 2006 after a 2 year volunteer period. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing, attending car shows, and traveling and spending time with his wife and kids. Chris was loved by so many in the community for his positive attitude, strong will, and charismatic demeanor.
A visitation for Chris will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Whitehurst Sullivan Burns & Blair Funeral Home, 836 E. Nees Ave., Fresno, CA 93720 followed by a Recitation of the Holy Rosary Service at 6:00 PM.
A Catholic Burial Service will take place on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at 12:00 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 2441 Dockery Ave, Selma, CA 93662 with a Committal Graveside Service Immediately after the funeral mass at Selma Cemetery District, 2430 Floral Ave, Selma, CA 93662.
