Carla Amelia Victoria Margosian

Born February 1, 1952, in Southern California, to Clair T. and Connie Steggall, Carla was raised in Fresno, California from 1954 on. She attended Queen of the Valley Academy, Fresno City College and Fresno State University.

After meeting her future husband, Michael John Margosian, on a YMCA teen trip to Canada in the “Summer of 69”, Carla and Michael became inseparable, ultimately marrying on June 21, 1975, the same summer Michael entered law school in Sacramento, California.

In November 1977, Carla and Michael’s first child was born, Amanda Corinne Margosian. After moving back to Fresno in the summer of 1978, their second child, Nicolette Erin (“Nikki”) was born in September 1980. Thereafter in September 1983, Carla and Michael’s son, Theodore Michael (“Ted”) was born, and their family was complete.

Carla, a 35-year breast cancer survivor, was always high on life, full of joy and a total loving spirit to all. Carla made friends with just about everyone she came into contact with. Carla loved to travel, traveling to Israel and the Mediterranean and Europe. In addition, she loved to spoil her grandchildren with her famous chocolate chip cookies and Armenian choregs. Carla’s passion of recent were her handmade velvet pumpkins, hundreds of which are in the hands of family and friends to enjoy. Surrounded by her family, Carla was the life of the party.

Carla is survived by her husband, Michael, of 48 years, her daughter Amanda Johnson and her husband Jeff of Roseville, California, her daughter Nikki Steinhauer and her husband Jason of Fresno, California, her son Ted of Fresno, California, and her grandchildren Amelia and Gabriel Johnson and Corbin and Payton Steinhauer. Carla is also survived by her beloved brother, Craig Steggall, and his family of Vancouver, Washington.

It is impossible to put into words how much her love, laughter and joy will be missed by all.

A visitation for Carla will be held on Sunday, January 21, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Whitehurst Sullivan Burns & Blair Funeral Home, 836 E. Nees Ave., Fresno, CA 93720.

A Memorial Service will take place on Monday, January 22, 2024 at 1:30 PM at CrossCity Christian Church, 2777 E Nees Ave, Fresno, CA 93720, with a Celebration of Life Reception to immediately follow.
