Ben was number 10 of 12 children born to Ben and Maylien Jue from Guangzhou China. He grew up on the family farm in Parlier, CA. He graduated from USC with a doctorate in pharmacy. Over the years he owned and operated McFarland Drugs, Sanger Rexall Drugs, and worked for Thrifty/Rite Aid and SaveMart, sometimes alongside his oldest son Keith all the while he was farming with his middle son Curt in Sanger and parts of the westside. After retiring from being a pharmacist, in his 80’s, he continued to farm up until this past November.
He met Eleanor Jowe while attending USC School of Pharmacy. They married on Aug 6, 1954, and remained married for 49 years until her passing in Aug. 2003.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Eleanor, son Keith and stepson Mark. He is survived by Gerry Wu, his current wife of 16 years, daughter-in-law Gretchen, son Curt, daughter Sandra and Dave, son Chris and wife Martha, stepsons Chris and wife JJ, Jon, Cameron, and wife Carole.
Ben is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, six great grandchildren, his older brother Arnold and wife Pansy, younger sister Linda and husband Don, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ben loved:
1. Being around family and friends
2. Cooking and sharing whatever he cooked. It wasn’t uncommon for him to cook lunch for the people that worked for him out on the farm.
3. Eating, he had a very good appetite for food. You always knew where you stood with his taste buds.
4. Hunting both 4-legged game and fowl. For the past 30 or so years his favorite thing to do was dove hunt with his sons and nephews.
5. Shopping with his grandchildren. He would take them shopping and whatever was placed on the counter was bought.
We love and will miss him but will never forget him.
