Barbara June Gordon was born on June 14, 1929 and died on November 30, 2023 at home in Clovis, California with her much loved family. Barbara was born in Fresno, California to Mildred (McCune) and Alfred Rusconi. She grew up and lived most of her life in San Joaquin, California. Barbara was an only child but she was surrounded by loving relatives from both the McCune and Rusconi families. She met Sid Gordon when they were teenagers while he was staying with his relatives in San Joaquin. They married on December 26, 1945 and were married for 77 years. Raising two children in San Joaquin, Barbara was a wonderful mother and wife. She was the wife, daughter and granddaughter of San Joaquin Valley farmers.
Barbara was a kind, loving and quiet person. She centered her entire life around her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. They all loved her deeply. She played the piano beautifully, sewed many of her daughter's and her own clothes, was a cookie baking, fudge making kind of mom. She loved sports; baseball, football and NASCAR and most weekends were spent watching her favorite teams on TV. Barbara and Sid enjoyed traveling in their motorhome, often taking their granddaughters along.
She loved to read all kinds of books and taught her children the value of reading. There was always a book on her nightstand. She gave books as gifts and was so proud when the great grandchildren started reading. She believed books allowed you to understand lives that differ from your own and she loved to read about different cultures.
She was a long time member of St. Vincent Catholic Church and was a member of the Altar Society. She belonged to the PTA, was a room mother numerous times and was an auxiliary member of the VFW. Her most cherished role, though, was taking care of her family.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Sid, six months prior, her son-in-law David and her parents. She leaves her son Allan and his wife Donna, her daughter Phyllis Feldman, granddaughters Megan Gordon, Erin Mozaffarian and husband Darius, 3 great grandchildren Audrey, Andrew and Adam Mozaffarian. She leaves numerous nieces and nephews. Her death is a profound loss as she was loved dearly. A private family memorial is planned.
