to Albert and Zella Scarbrough Piearcy.
He passed away on July 28, 2018, and will be laid to rest on his birthday.
He grew up in Kerman, the youngest of three with sisters, Linda and Dorothy.
While working full time, he graduated from California State University, Fresno.
The greatest joy of his life was being a dad to his daughter Heather.
His only grandson, Everett, was born two months after Alvin lapsed into a coma.
He would have delighted in being a grandpa and seeing what a great mom his daughter is.
Alvin had a true love for life.
From a mischievous, fun-loving, friend magnet as a little boy,
he grew to be a bright, kind, compassionate and good hearted man and father.
He loved his family and pets, and enjoyed people in general, good conversation,
and spirited but friendly discussion of issues.
Nature, the mountains and coast, movies, concerts, and events were pleasures.
He loved music and taught himself guitar.
Spending time with his daughter was best of all.
An illness that would have devastated most brought out only the best in him.
He faced it with strong faith, a brave, realistic but positive spirit, unfailing gratitude and intelligent
navigation of whatever challenge confronted him.
His warm humor was a gift.
He is survived by sister Linda; daughter Heather; grandson Everett, from Fresno, CA;
sister Dorothy; nephew, Casey Janeiro of Redding, CA;
niece, Brandy Janeiro Starkgraf of Colorado; and an aunt and cousins in Oklahoma and Arkansas.
Deepest thanks and gratitude are extended to Delano Regional Medical Center Special Care Unit;
and Community Regional Medical Center staff for the thoughtful care
and kindness given Alvin and his family.
A Graveside Service and Burial will be held at
