Wednesday at Elmwood Assisted Living in Fremont. She was born June 23,1931,to Robert and Edna (Cochran) Werner. She graduated from St. Joseph High
School in 1949.On November 23,1950, she married Harry F. Smith at St. Joseph Catholic Churchin Fremont, and moved to their farm in Ballville Township. She worked most ofher life as a homemaker, after holding jobs at the Herbrand Corporation and Bintz' s clothing store.Marilyn was a wonderful cook and loved entertaining. She loved music and dancing and could dance a lively jitterbug in her younger years. She was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she had served on pastoral council and the RCIA team, and taught CCD. Surviving are daughter Cheryl (Jim) Kettner; grandsons Brian (Laura) Szabo, Michael (Challen) Szabo, Jeffrey Kettner; great-grandchildren Andrew & CollinSzabo, Ella & Adelyn Szabo, and Calib Kettner. She also leaves behind her devoted rescue dog, Kelly. Marilyn was preceded in death by her loving husband,Harry, her son, Steven, her brother, James C. Werner, and son-in-law, John M. Szabo.
A celebration of Marilyn's life will begin with visitation at Keller-Koch-Chudzinski Funeral Home, 416 S. Arch Street, Fremont, Ohio on Sunday, June 21, 2015 from 2-4 and 6-8P.M. with Rosary services beginning at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 10:30A.M. on Monday followed by burial at St Joseph Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to St. Joseph CatholicChurch or to Stein Hospice.
