Mrs. Smith was a homemaker. She had worked as a bartender at several locations in Fremont and knew most local residents by name, no matter their age.
Lola was a lifelong resident of Fremont. She was a member of the Fremont American Legion Auxiliary and the Fremont Women of the Moose.
She enjoyed going to northern Michigan to hunt mushrooms and visiting the casino. She also enjoyed snowmobiling, playing cards and golfing.
Lola was proud of recently becoming a great-great-grandmother to Brayden Disch.
She was born July 18, 1935, in Fremont, Ind., to Thomas A. and Harriett Elizabeth (Jordan) Parrish. They both preceded her in death. She married Kenneth A. Smith on September 23, 1966. He preceded her in death on August 15, 2003.
Surviving are two daughters, Pamela and Bill Jackson of Angola, Ind., and Tammy and Randy Davis of Fremont, Ind.; a son, Robert and Cleta Kroll of Garfield, Arkansas; five grandchildren, Jessica Harmon, Windy Bradley, Scott Kroll, Jessica and Josh Smith and Bill Jackson III; 13 great-grandchildren, Alycia and Russell Disch, TJ and Breanna Curtis, Jade Czender, Katrina Bradley, Samantha Bradley, Jonathan Erwin, Sykura Smith, Jackson Smith, Mackenzie Smith, Tyler Jackson, Joey Jackson, Bill Jackson IV and Jasmine Jackson; a great-great-grandchild, Brayden Disch; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Jeannette M. Smith; two brothers, James Lee Parrish and Robert Parrish; and a sister, June Sharrow.
There will be no services or visitation.
Because of her love for animals, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Steuben County Humane Shelter.
