Mr. Parsons retired as a supervisor at Midwest Foundry in Coldwater, Mich., where he had worked for more than 30 years.
He had attended Fremont High School and was a World War II United States Marine Corps veteran.
Mr. Parsons was a former member of the Fremont American Legion Cassel Post 257.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a former basketball and baseball player for the Fremont schools, and was a Detroit sports fan, following the Tigers, Lions, Red Wings, and Pistons professional teams.
He was born June 4, 1929, in Fremont to Ralph Parsons and Lillian Lyle (Berry) Custer.
Surviving are four daughters, Pam and Denny Bronson of Arizona, Cindy and Steve Westfall of Kentucky, Linda and Jeff Phibbs of Coldwater, Mich., and Diane and Jody Grigg of Fremont; two sons, Dennis and Sue Parsons and Curt and Sue Parsons, all of Coldwater; 13 grandchildren' and many great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Donald ‘‘Dean’’ Parsons, Harold LaWayne Parsons, Francis Parsons and Walt Parsons; a sister, Maxine Reese; and two sons-in-law, Rodney Blount and Larry Bailey.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at Beams Funeral Home in Fremont.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday April 17, 2012, at Beams Funeral Home with Chaplain Joan North officiating.
Burial will be in California Cemetery in California Township, Branch County, Mich., with military committal services conducted by members of the Fremont American Legion post.
