Richard "Dick" Coffman passed away peacefully on July 7, 2017 at the age of 87 just two weeks before his 88th birthday. He was the son of the late Ralph and Helen Coffman. Dick was the beloved husband of Verla Coffman for 64 years. Loving father of Rex Coffman (Kamila), Barbara Sellke (Randy), the late Patricia Coffman and Richard “Ricky” Coffman. Dear brother of Marilyn Hermann and the late Rogene Hayenga and Norma Dunn. Also survived by his grandchildren; Marc, Dylan, Sierra, Richie and Rachel. Family meant everything to Dick, from his wife to his children to his grandchildren and his extended family. He was always happiest surrounded by his loved ones. Dick enjoyed working on cars and the house, forever the handyman at heart. He had a natural talent for music and was often playing away at his guitar or banjo in his free time. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army in the Korean War. After his time in the service, Dick attended community college in the Bay Area and went on to spend more than 35 years as a Civil Engineer for CalTrans working on various bridges throughout California and designing park and ride lots in the Bay Area, a career he really enjoyed. A viewing will be held on July 16, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Funeral on July 17, 2017 11:00 am at the Lima Family Milpitas-Fremont Mortuary, 48800 Warm Springs Blvd, Fremont, CA 94539.
