June 6, 1920 – October 15, 2017
Resident of Modesto, California
Mary died peacefully of natural causes on Sunday, October 15, 2017 at the age of 97.
Mary, a former longtime resident of Milpitas, was very involved with St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, where she organized the neighborhood CCD classes prior to the building of the school. She was also a member of the Ladies Guild that decorated the altar for service each Sunday.
She was born and raised in No. Dighton, Mass, where she went to school, married, began her family, and worked at the Mt. Hope Finishing Company, where she met her husband; Conrad. She moved to California in 1962 with her husband and raised their family. She also enjoyed working outside the home. She was proficient in soldering on the assembly lines for several companies in Sunnyvale, Ca. She then took training classes as a Nurses Aid and began working at Stanford hospital, which was her favorite job until she and Conrad retired to Gardnerville, NV. in 1981. She soon realized that she liked being busy, and began working at Carson Valley Inn in Minden, NV. as a housekeeper. She loved to clean and was blessed with the gift of hospitality, so making the rooms perfect for someone made her happy.
Mary moved with Conrad to Modesto, CA to live with their son, Doug and his family in August of 2009 and just be a grandma. She loved to play her keyboard and sing with her granddaughter Cassie. In September of 2010, she moved to Evergreen Rehab Nursing Care to be with her husband and take care of him. She continued to take care of him there until he passed September 30, 2012. Wanting to still give back and do something good, she made smiling her ‘ministry’ as she wheeled herself around the home. She also joined the ‘Sweet Heart Choir’ and went Christmas caroling with her new friends.
She is survived by four children; Joyce (Jerry) DeLancey of Missouri, Cynthia Lawrence of Canada, DC Bleau of Milpitas, and Douglas (Carrie) Bleau of Modesto; grandchildren Laren, Sean, Darrell, Nicole, Douglas, and Cassaundra; great grandchildren Dalton, Katey, Delane, and Joseph. She was preceded in death by her husband Conrad C. Bleau, son Conrad C. Bleau, a Sgt. in the US Marine Corp., her parents; Joseph S. and Mary (Souza-Mello) Corey, siblings; Joseph, Evelyn, Edward, James, and Ernest.
Visitation will be 12:00pm - 9:00pm Saturday; October 21st, with a Rosary Service from 4:00pm – 5:00pm in the small chapel at Lima Family Milpitas-Fremont Mortuary, 48800 Warm Springs Boulevard, Fremont, CA 94539 (408) 263-2868. Prayer services will be Sunday, October 22nd, 10:00am in the small chapel with burial following at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
