Loretta Jean Silva, 72 passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in Morgan Hill, CA. on Thursday January 7th 2021. Loretta was born to Frank and Hazel Sardinha on July 2nd 1948 in Modesto, CA. Loretta grew up in Modesto with her younger brother Steven Sardinha, her younger sister Joyce Ann Krogh and younger brother Vernon Leandro. Loretta graduated from Davis High School in Modesto in 1966 and went on to graduate Cosmetology College also in Modesto. Loretta moved to Milpitas after graduation to live and work for her Aunt Lee Lewis who owned Fashion Beauty Den Salon of Milpitas
Loretta met her husband Ronald Silva of Redwood City, CA. after corresponding with Ron while he was in Vietnam in 1969. They met for the first time in person while Ron was on a short leave on Friday the 13th 1970, which became a lucky number for both them because they fell in love. After discharge from the service and a engagement on July 2nd 1970 they were married on November 8th 1970 and was able to celebrate their 50th Anniversary on November 8th 2020.
They made their home in Fremont Ca. until they purchased a new home and moved to San Jose Ca. in October 31, 1972, and then purchased a second home Santa Nella, CA. after Loretta's retirement in 2007 and another one in 2011 in Morgan Hill CA. in a senior park and then sold their San Jose home after living there for 40 years.
Loretta worked as a Cosmetologist for her Aunts shop for 3 years until she started working for Bank of America for the next 7 years until Loretta was hired by the Milpitas School District as a Principal Secretary and became Senior Secretary for the school district until her retirement in 2007. After retirement Loretta worked part time at Cottage Crafts Boutique, but said it was more fun than work since she was a crafter all her life. Loretta loved crafting and attending and selling at boutiques through out the Bay Area and could craft anything. Loretta also volunteered as a secretary at the City of Cupertino Senior Center for 2 years.
Loretta had a lot of nephews and nieces and godchildren and was know to most of them as " GRAMMY", they include Goddaughter Yolonda Navarro and her husband Juan and their daughter Maddy, niece Kathy Henson and her husband Toby and their two daughters Lauren and Sarah, niece Misty Linarez and her husband Dario and their two sons Marcus, Ivan and daughter Bella, niece Tammy Waller and her husband Scott their two sons Brian, Christopher and daughter Lynn, nephew Larry Shephard his wife Maureen and their 3 sons Rona, Connor and Daniel, nephew Gary Park and his family, nephew David Silva Jr., nephew Joshua and niece Kaylee Leandro, also her two sister-in-laws Sally Silva and Shirley Shepard that were more like sisters to Loretta.
Loretta will be deeply missed by her family and many friends and her memory will live on with everyone who loved her.
"Retta" as I her husband of over 50 years called her, Retta will be forever in my heart, she was a brave lady fighting this cancer for over 3 years and most of all a great wife and the love of my life. I will miss her for the rest of my life until we meet again.
