Legardo fondly known as “Gary” or “Boy” at the age 80 with his wife and daughters by his side peacefully gone to God on “All Souls Day” the 2nd of November 2024.
Born on May 1st, 1944 in Jaro, Leyte during the Japanese occupation of the Philippines the eldest of 5 children to Legardo Sr and Charito Silay.
Married for 48 years to his beautiful muse “Miss Nemco”Lucita Odfina filled with love and blessed with 5 girls but lost one angel 3-months after birth named Garilou.
Bachelor of Laws graduate at Manuel L Quezon University (MLQU) in 1970 after transitioning from Bachelor of Arts in Political Science at the University of the Visayas.
Following a short stint with the Intelligence Section of the Pasig Police Department, transferred onto the Philippine Bureau of Immigration as an Immigration Officer at the Ninoy International Airport (NAIA) and served twice as the National President of the Immigration Officers of the Philippines.
Upon retirement, returned to the Philippines in 2013 with “Bebot” the love of his life settling in hometown of Surigao City. Due to illness, arrived back to the US on September 19th, 2024 for a much-needed medical care.
Passionate in singing gifted with talent, formed a band performing in school events and parties, winning local competitions, catapulting onwards to Cebu City where musical contests thrived, taking on titles of ELVIS PRESLEY and best impersonation of BOBBY DARIN in the Visayas and Mindanao regions.
Dabbled in poetry; an exceptional cook, a coin collector who valued history and arts.
Fascinated with Cockfighting, bred roosters in a small farm in Anaoaon, father’s birthplace involved often in the sport and a boxer enthusiasts.
Endured by Lucita, devoted other half; pride and joy, Claudinne, Desiree, Jacqueline, and Angela; 11 grandchildren brought warmth and tenderness: Jerell, Cayeleen, Kaiah, Bobby, Billy, Carsynne, Kaleo, Ethan, Julian, CJ, and Santi; and beloved sisters Vilma “Inday” and Marlene “Nene”.
A strong family man, intellectually brilliant, silently sentimental, unselfishly generous, deeply loved and missed, forever remain in our hearts and never ever be forgotten.
