Kathy died in her home with her husband and children near her after a long struggle with cancer. She was a native of Cleveland Ohio and moved to California after graduating from Kent State University where she earned a degree in Fine Art. In California, she earned a Masters in Fine Art from California State University Long Beach and taught art for a short time, but she devoted most of her time to raising her twins, Laurel and John. She moved to Walnut Creek in the 1980's and was employed by the Contra Costa Community College District as a graphic artist from which she retired in 1998 after many years of service. Kathy moved to Pleasanton and married Chuck in the chapel at St. Elizabeth Seton in August 2001. She was involved in numerous church activities including supporting the St. Vincent De Paul Society until her death.
Kathy was a creative fun loving women, caring deeply for her children and grandchildren and encouraging their creativity. Besides being a talented artist, her interests included world traveling, gardening, camping and trout fishing, but in particular she enjoyed visiting art galleries and museums. She is survived by her husband Chuck (Carl) Schneider, children Laurel and John Shoaff, grand children ZuZu and Thomas, sisters Nancy Manion and Susie Powers, stepchildren Jan, Greg, Lynn, Doug and Stacy, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services are with the Catholic Community of Pleasanton at St. Elizabeth Seton’s Chapel, 4001 Stoneridge Drive, Pleasanton, California 94566 on January 3rd at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers please consider contributions to your local St. Vincent De Paul Society or Hospice programs.
