Phyllis Jean Muscolino

Phyllis Jean (Howarth) Muscolino, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2024, in Fredericksburg, VA, surrounded by the love of family and friends. Phyllis was born on June 10, 1946, in Rochester, NY.

A talented crafter, Phyllis was known for her handmade greeting cards, decorations, clothing, and intricate dollhouses, creating cherished items for her family and friends that brightened countless lives. Her warm workshops fostered friendship and joy, leaving a lasting legacy of kindness through her artistic generosity. One of Phyllis's most outstanding qualities was her positive outlook on life, which inspired stability and love in everyone she touched.

Phyllis also cherished the outdoors, a passion she shared with her devoted husband, Robert “Bob” Muscolino. Together, they enjoyed adventures in nature, from boating and fishing to cross-country trips and peaceful days in remote cabins. Phyllis’s deep appreciation for nature was complemented by her skill in photography, which beautifully captured her love of the outdoors. Her sons, John and Steve, fondly remember her for her unwavering love and dedication to family, always supporting their interests and dreams wholeheartedly.

She is survived by her loving husband, Robert Muscolino; her sons, John McKay Jr. (spouse Tammy McKay, granddaughter Molly McKay) and Stephen McKay (spouse Dawn Tucker). She also leaves behind her extended family members: step-son Robert Muscolino Jr. (Anna & Matt Swann, daughters Ellie Quinn & Chloe), step-son Nicholas Muscolino (spouse Dawn & daughter Aubrey), and step-daughter Dawn Brandts (daughters Sierra & Alaya).

Phyllis is predeceased by her parents, John and Vida Howarth, who surely welcomed her with open arms.

A "Celebration of Life" will be held in her honor on Tuesday November 12th at 3pm-7pm at the Newburg Volunteer Fire Dept, 12245 Rock Point Rd, Newburg, MD 20664, where friends and family will gather to remember her vibrant spirit, creativity, and legacy of kindness.

In lieu of flowers, Phyllis's family invites you to "Pay it Forward" in her memory, sharing your own passions and skills with others, just as she did so graciously throughout her life. Or, if you have a preferred cancer fund in mind, that would be such a generous and thoughtful gesture.
