Jose Enrique Ortega

Jose Enrique Ortega, age 85, of Fredericksburg, VA, passed away suddenly on Friday, December 22, 2023, at Mary Washington Hospital. He was born on November 11, 1938, in Puerto Rico. He was the son of the late Jose and Isabell (Gonzalez) Ortega. Jose served in the U.S. Army, joining at the age of 17. Survivors include his loving wife, Migdalia Ortega; two sons, Joseph Michael Ortega (Amy) of Fredericksburg, VA, Carmelo David Ortega (Michelle) of Fredericksburg, VA; four daughters, Wanda Sherman (Brian) of Fredericksburg, VA, Kathy Bailey of Florida, Annettee Ortega Parker of North Carolina, Iris Ortega of Arizona; one brother, Louis Ortega, and three sisters, Nilda Ortega, Magdalena Rosado, and Josephine Ortega of Puerto Rico. He had 18 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed watching sports, especially his Yankees and grandchildren’s athletic events. But most of all, he loved spending time with the family, pets, and his beloved wife. He was a kind and forgiving man with a big heart who always did for others. A visitation for Jose will be held Thursday, December 28, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, 1621 Emancipation Hwy, Fredericksburg, Virginia 22401. A funeral service will occur Thursday, December 28, 2023 at 1:30 PM, 1621 Emancipation Hwy, Fredericksburg, Virginia 22401. An interment will occur Thursday, December 28, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Oak Hill Cemetery, 1902 William Street, Fredericksburg, VA.
