Jim was originally from Martinsburg, WV. He worked for PEPCO for many years and also the Bureau of National Affairs. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and drag racing in his early years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Mary Ellen; four children, Myra Beasley and husband Russell, Sheri Shade, Tony Shade and wife Sharon, and Barbie Rankins and husband Michael; ten grandchildren; two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Sr. and Eva Shade; a brother, Harry Jr. and a sister, Geneva Turner.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 25 at Spotsylvania Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 4:30 to 6 prior to the service.
