William P. Tumpak (75) of Carlisle, Ohio passed away Friday evening, July 14, 2023. William, who preferred Bill, was born to Joseph and Ann Tumpak on March 5, 1948 in Youngstown, Ohio. He attended Youngstown State University and was an intelligent and creative mechanical engineer who worked as a designer for Delphi for several years until moving to the Dayton area to be closer to family. In his free time, Bill enjoyed rooting for the Cleveland sports teams, fishing, collecting Native American artifacts and attending his children and grandchildren’s sporting events.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Jo Ann, and three sons, Joshua (Rosey), Jeremy (Amanda), and Jesse. He is also survived by his brother Joseph Tumpak Jr., his sister Kathleen (John) Marafiote, and five grandchildren, Amelia, Sofia, Olivia, Ephraim, and Everett. Bill was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Ann.
Bill was an ardent Christian whose passion was expressed through the kindness he showed to everyone he met and in the deep conversations he often held. He was active in every church he attended and began learning Hebrew later in life to better understand God’s Word. Bill was a wonderful husband and father who made many silent sacrifices for his family and, though busy, made time to spend with his children and grandchildren. He had a great sense of humor and an infectious laugh, which was often funnier than the joke itself. His mellow personality created a pleasant environment at all family gatherings, and he will be dearly missed.
A celebration of Bill’s life will take place on Friday, July 28, 2023 with visitation hours between 2:30 and 4:00 p.m. followed by a short service until 4:30. The service will take place at Southwest Church in Springboro, Ohio (150 Remick Blvd.).
