Marjorie Lee Poff, age 89, of Miamisburg, Ohio passed away peacefully to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 5, 2024. She was born in Franklin, Ohio on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, 1935, to the late Leo and Virginia Izor (Quillen).
Marjorie was a 1953 graduate of Springboro and was on the cheer squad throughout high school. She was a resolute lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church of Springboro, where she was a Sunday School teacher and actively served in various groups. She served in the Great Rivers Girl Scouts Council, serving as a Troop Leader and Regional Mother. Marjorie spent her work career in the insurance industry with Barton Insurance Agency, Uhl Insurance Agency, and retiring from Ralph E. Wade's Insurance Agency in Springboro. She was also a member of the American Business Women's Association (ABWA), Lebanon chapter. She served as the Chaplain of the Eagles Auxiliary and was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Aerie 4014. She was an expert seamstress who loved crocheting & needlepoint and teaching her daughters and granddaughters the art. Countless times she corralled all her grandkids on their farm adventures. She enjoyed participating in bowling leagues, square dancing, playing bingo, and in general, socializing. As long as she was physically able, she regularly attended Curves fitness classes. Whenever there was a chance, she delighted in making trips to Amish country and the Longaberger factory to shop for treasures.
A lifelong resident of Warren County, OH, Marjorie and husband Jack raised their five children on the Bull Run Creek Farm, southeast of Springboro where they resided for 37 years. "The Farm" served as a beloved gathering place for many hog roast picnics for family and friend reunions through the years. For fifteen of these years, she & Jack managed the Springboro Haunted Hayrides.
She was preceded in death by her parents Leo and Virginia Izor, daughter Julia Poff, grandson Jesse Hoefler, and brothers Charles and Warren Izor.
Marjorie is survived by her husband of 70 years, Jack Poff, children Joni (Jerry) Flynn, John Poff, Gina (George) Long, and Cindi (Ray) Newton, 14 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, sister Ginger Hirschbach, a host of nieces and nephews, and many extended family members and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday October 27, 2024, at 1:00 pm at the Springboro United Methodist Church, 60 North Street Springboro, Ohio 45066. A celebration of life will follow the service at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 4014, 125 E. Central Ave. Springboro, Ohio 45066.
