Darryl E. Daubenmire, age 89, of Franklin, OH, passed away with family and church family by his side. Darryl was born in Lebanon, OH on September 18, 1934, the oldest child, to the late Stanford and Myrtle (Wolf) Daubenmire, who raised him in a loving Christian home.
Darryl served his country in the US Army as a Field Artilleryman,13D. Specializing in Operations (S-3) and Intelligence (S-4) for the Fire Direction Control Center. In addition, he was selected for the Personal Reliability Program, where he maintained a secret clearance for Nuclear Propulsion Systems. After his Honorable Discharge, he used his GI Bill to obtain his Private and Commercial Pilot's licenses. Before and after his military service, Darryl worked at G.E. as a Jet Engine Designer.
Switching careers in 1973, he started working at Kings Island and retired from there. His next career was with JC Penny and retired for a second time. The most important part of his life was serving and telling others about Jesus. He went to Haiti on a mission trip. He and his wife, Brenda, were AWANA leaders together for many years. He loved being a "Greeter", participating in VBS, and his Sunday School class.
Darryl was preceded in death by his brother, David Daubenmire of Lebanon, OH and a brother-in-law, Rev. Dennis Back. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 41 years, Brenda (Back) Daubenmire; loving sons and daughter, Mark (Sandy) Daubenmire of Lebanon, OH, Tim (Elaine) Daubenmire of Batavia, OH, Sarah Kaylee Daubenmire of Brunswick, OH. Loving Grandchildren, Heather (Derek) Cole, Casey (Max) Szturm. Great Grandchildren, Cayla Szturm, Dominick Cole, Grant Cole, Lucas Szturm, Jake Pullen, Aria Pullen. Brother, Gary (Loretta) Daubenmire; sisters-in-law, Martha Daubenmire, Peggy Back, Numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services are 12 pm Friday December 22, 2023 at the Hillcrest Baptist Church 820 Central Ave Carlisle, OH with Pastor Larry Lambes officiating. Burial will be in Dayton National Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be Friday from 11am to 12 pm at the church.
