Bill was born in Mount Vernon, Kentucky and eventually settled in Franklin, Ohio where he and Mamie raised their family. The family lived on a 73 acre farm where Bill taught his children many life lessons. Bill had many jobs throughout his lifetime starting with working at the feed mill, caddying for golfers, working for national cash register (NCR) and then finally retiring from General Motors after 23 years. He discovered he wasn’t quite ready to stop working at the age of 62 so he spent another 10 years at Adessa, transporting cars. Not only did he have full-time jobs from the time he was 16 years old, he was a very handyman around the house. He was also a part-time carpenter, plumber, electrician, mechanic and all around very handyman. He was always available to lend a helping hand when anyone needed him. In August 1983, Bill gave his life to Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior.
Bill loved to spend time with his family and friends. His children grew up going to Dale Hollow Lake where Bill taught each one of them how to waterski and camp. He loved watching all of his grandchildren play sports. He was always up for exploring different parts of the United States. Bill had many hobbies, including restoring and repairing cars, especially his 57 Chevy, watching NASCAR racing and a variety of car shows. He also loved the Cincinnati Bengals, Cincinnati Reds, the Wheel of Fortune, and Jeopardy.
Bill also love to cook. He and his wife taught all of the children how to cook. Some of his favorite dishes included sausage, biscuits, gravy. He also loved fried catfish, but it had to be crispy. He provided a fish fry for anyone that could make it after any fishing trip. He also loved the outdoors where he raised large gardens every year. Bill loved to ride motorcycles up until the age of 80 years. He also enjoyed bicycling up to 30 miles per day until the age of 82 where he graduated to an electric bike. He could outride all of his family members and finally retired the bike just a few months ago. Bill had a wonderful sense of humor and his laugh was contagious. We will all miss his beautiful face and smile.
