Joyce W. Worden

She was born on December 2, 1931, in Franklin, the daughter of Stanley and Edna (Denny) Woodard. She graduated from Franklin Central School in 1949 and worked at Bendix Corporation (Scintilla) in Sidney, NY as a secretary in the Engineering Drafting Department.

She married Paul H. Worden at the Franklin Methodist Church on September 25, 1954. He predeceased her on April 2, 2016.

Joyce was a member of the Franklin Methodist Church and a former member of the Ouleout Eastern Stars in Franklin. She worked on the election board in the town of Franklin for 52 years and was also a Republican committee-person since 1974.

She was a former member of the Franklin Fire Dept. Auxiliary and the Delaware County Firemen’s Auxiliary. Joyce served as a Cub Scout Den Mother Leader for many years. She was also a Brownie Girl Scout and 4-H Leader.

Joyce enjoyed working in her flower garden and spending time at the camp the family built in 1953 on Goodyear Lake. She was a loving mother and was always devoted to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren; always attending their sports and other school activities.

She is survived by her children, Thomas (Linda) Worden, Scott (Tina) Worden, Christopher (Katrina) Worden, and Susan (Matt) Campbell; 10 grandchildren, Justin, Jon, and Lindsay Worden, Travis Sohns, Miranda Katalinas, Christina and Meghan Worden, Collin, and the twins, Kayla and Marissa Campbell; and 8 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Paul H. Worden; a brother Robert Woodard; a sister Marjorie Harmon; and in-laws Hubert and Avis Worden.

The family will gather for a private viewing at their convenience.

A graveside committal service will be announced at a later date in Ouleout Valley Cemetery, Franklin.

In lieu of flowers, contributions are asked to be made to the Franklin Fire Dept., PO Box 8, Franklin, NY 13775.
