William R Black III was born in Gastonia, North Carolina on June 30, 1950. He passed away peacefully on October 26, 2023 in Peyton, Colorado after a short battle with Glioblastoma (brain cancer).
He is survived by his wife of 46 years Starla (Hodges) Black, 4 children Priscilla (Charles) Myers, Bobby (Heather) Black, Jeremy (Dusty) Black, and Jonathan Black, and 6 grandchildren Imogen, Ivey, Kylee, Kayla, Benjamin, and Isaiah. He also leaves behind his Aunt Sue Auten, sister Dru (John) Howell -children Timmy, Tammy, and Sheila, Brother-in-law Roger (Barbara) Isenhour -child Warren, as well as many cousins, great nieces and nephews, and other family members. He was proceeded in death by his Father William R Black Jr, Mother Nadine Black, Sister Sherry Lynn Isenhour, and granddaughter Alexis-Athena Wyatt.
Wiliam (Robbie) was a kind and caring man who showed the love of God to everyone he met. He loved the Lord first, his family second, and then everyone else he met. He was down to earth with a love of food that everyone joked about as well as a love of motorcycles. He never met a stranger.
He attended Stem Elementary School, Creedmoor Middle School and then South Grandville High School in the Butner/Creedmoor area of North Carolina. He served in the US Navy from 1968-1972 and spent time in Vietnam. After he came to know the Lord, he went to Baptist Bible College in Springfield Mo. graduating in 1978.
After Attending Baptist Bible College William entered fulltime ministry as both a missionary and pastor. He served with New Tribes Missions for 5 years. He also pastored churches in Kansas, North Carolina, Arkansas, and Colorado. After retiring in 2007, he was involved in Bikers for Christ in Colorado where he served as one of the Chapter Elders and then as the National Chaplain for the Nam Vets MC Nomads while in Texas as well as a Shepard in their church in Texas, Christ Community Fellowship.
A viewing will be held at Dove-Witt in Fountain, Co. on November 3, 2023 from 10am-1pm. A Celebration of Life will be held at Cross Creek Church in Fountain, Co. on November 4, 2023 at 3pm with a dinner to follow.
