Chief Warrant Officer Norman B Wood passed away on January 25th, 2013 in Security, Colorado. CWO Wood was born February 6th, 1929 in Richland Center, Wisconsin to Bernard I. Wood and Ethel V. (Francois) Wood, who are both deceased. He had lived in Security since 1966. He retired from the U.S. Army at Fort Carson in 1973 after twenty- years of service. He served in Vietnam with the 1st Squadron, 4th Cavalry, 1st Infantry Division from August 1966 to July 1967. He was a member of the VFW Post 3917 in Security. He was decorated with the National Defense Service Medal with one oak-Leaf cluster, the Army Commendation Medal with three oak-leaf clusters, the Bronze Star with one oak-leaf cluster, the Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze service stars, the Vietnam Campaign medal with 60 devices, among other awards. CWO Wood was preceded in death by his wife Maria J. Wood in 1969, their daughter Rosemary Wood in 1987, and their son Wilfried E Wood in 1992. He is survived by three grandchildren, Sharon Zagyva of Wasilla Alaska, Ryan Wood of Eagle River Alaska and Kirsten Wood and five great-grandchildren. Memorial Services will be held on Friday, February 1st, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the VFW, located at 4715 Clearview Dr, Colorado Springs, CO, 80911. Burial will be in Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver.
