It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Johnny Taylor Rowe, a cherished husband, father, papa, and friend who left this world on June 25, 2024, in Colorado Springs, CO.
Johnny was born in Georgia on July 5, 1956, to Jessie Sharp (preceded in death in 2019) and Eugene Ray. His early years in the South shaped a man of strength, integrity, and resilience. In 1974, Johnny answered the call to serve his country and joined the military as a combat engineer. His twenty years of dedicated service took him to various parts of the world, and he retired as a Staff Sergeant (SSG), respected by all who served alongside him.
After his honorable discharge, Johnny continued a life of service in the Fountain Colorado Police Department. For 15 years, he protected and served as a police officer, and for the last five years of his career, he excelled as a detective. His commitment to the community was unwavering and deeply appreciated by those who knew him.
Johnny was also a proud and active member of The Blue Knights® International Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club, where he combined his love for motorcycles with fellowship and philanthropy.
Above all, Johnny was a family man. He was a proud "papa" to Gavin, Calib, and Leila Riopta. His love for his grandchildren was immeasurable, and he took great joy in sharing his passions with them.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Angelika Rowe; his daughters, Nicole Rowe, and Sabrina Riopta (Ricky), his cherished grandchildren, and many loved extended family members in Tennessee and Germany. Johnny was a true friend to many, always ready to lend a helping hand. An avid outdoorsman, he loved to fish and hunt, embracing the beauty of Colorado's natural landscapes.
Johnny was easily recognizable in his signature cowboy hat, boots, and Harley Davidson shirt - a true emblem of his unique spirit and love for the open road.
A viewing will be held at Dove-Witt Family Mortuary, 6630 S. US Hwy 85 87, Fountain, CO 80817, on July 5,2024 from 4 pm to 8 pm MT.
A burial with Military Honors will be on July 9,2024 at 10:30 AM at Pikes Peak National Cemetery, 10545 Drennan Road, Colorado Springs, CO 80925.
For those wishing to honor Johnny's memory, flowers can be sent to Dove-Witt Family Mortuary at the address above, or donations can be made in his name to a veterans' charity of your choice.
Johnny's legacy of service, love, and laughter will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him. He will be profoundly missed, but never forgotten. Rest in peace, Johnny Taylor Rowe.
