A Visitation will be held from 4pm to 7pm, Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel. A Graveside Services will be held at 1:15 pm on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery with Chaplain Ray Schufford officiating.
Walter ‘Bones’ was born in Shiro, TX to Walter Collins, Sr. and Annie Mooring on February 21, 1930. He went to school at I. M. Terrell High School and Samuel Huston College which later became Huston-Tillotson. He married Racine Moye on January 31, 1953 in Fort Worth. He graduated from I. M. Terrell as well. Walter worked as a supervisor for Braniff Airlines for 37 years. He was a proud veteran of the Korean War and served in the Army.
Walter is preceded in death by his father, mother, sister, Oretha Collins Jackson, daughter, Debra Stuart, and his beloved wife, Racine.
Walter is survived by his daughter, DeLisa Cooper (Tim), granddaughters Raschene Singleton (Mike), Tatum Cooper, and Tori Cooper and Grandson Calvin Cooper (Renata), son in law, Robert Stuart, sisters in law, Gloria Kavanaugh and La Ruth Stewart, nieces, Cynthia Barnes, Vivian Carroll (Lee) and nephews Roderick Kavanaugh, Mark Stewart, and Ronald Stewart. Lastly, he leaves behind several extended family members and friends.
