away on November 22, 2022, at the age of 88 after living a life filled with faith and family.
Sue was born to Forrest and Minnie Teague on July 24, 1934. She grew up with her younger
siblings Marilyn and Phil. Sue met the love of her life one night after seeing how well he danced.
She married Billy James Burk Sr., and together, they raised three sons: Mark, Steve, and Billy
Jr. Her husband and her boys brought Sue many years of joy.
Sue’s door was always open for her family and friends. The banter heard through holiday
get-togethers and family meals would give any TV sitcom a run for its money. Throughout the
years, Sue enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking delicious food for her loved ones, and
attending church.
Although known to be shy and reserved, there was another side to Sue. She had a lively and
funny personality for those closest to her. Sue was a secret jokester who would do anything to
make her family happy. Everyone who knew Sue felt her big heart and giving nature. Sue was
happiest around her family, around laughter, and around desserts. Nothing brought Sue more
joy than knowing her family was happy and safe. She worried about them, rooted for them,
protected them, forgave them, and always kept on loving them.
Sue is preceded in death by her parents Forrest and Minnie, her brother Phil, and her loving
husband Bill. She is survived by her sister Marilyn Stevens and her three sons: Mark, Steve,
and Bill Jr, and their spouses. Her seven granddaughters-Melannie, Meredith, Beth, Leah,
BreAnna, Bella, and Brook will cherish the impact she had on their lives. Sue will be greatly
missed by her seven great-grandchildren-Nikolas, Alyssa, Wyatt, Shelby, Kaia, Benjamin, and
Catherine.
Services are being held for Sue on Tuesday, December 6, 2022. Visitation will be at 1:00 PM
followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. A burial service will follow.
The family would like to thank Hope, Sue’s hospice care aide, for the love and care she
provided daily for the last year and a half.
In Lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in
Sue’s name.
