Sandra Jean Blume

Sandra Jean Blume was born in Chicago, Illinois on December 14, 1944 and passed May 28, 2021 in Fort Worth, TX after a long battle with cancer. She is preceded in death by her parents LeRoy and Madeleine Jean Johnson and her husband of 52 years, Ralph Blume. She is survived by her three daughters; Kathy Bowman and husband Noel of Oak Point, TX, Karen Branch and husband Jeff of Arlington, TX, Kim Balderas and husband Sam of Burleson, TX and her four grandsons that she absolutely adored: Haden, Reid, Jackson and Ryan. She is also survived by her three siblings Nancy Johnson (Larry), Betty Johnson (Mike), Brad Johnson, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends who she loved dearly.

Sandy was raised in Skokie, Illinois, graduating from Niles East High School in 1962. After graduation she worked for Searle Labs where she met Ralph. They would marry in 1964 and remained in the Chicago area until 1974, when they relocated to Fort Worth, TX.

Sandy spent her career as owner and operator of the Dallas office of Bellair Expediting, a global air-freight and shipping business, until she sold it and retired in 2016 to spend more time with her family, friends and her beloved rescue dogs, Scout and Sarge.

Sandy’s greatest joy was her grandsons, as she was often seen at their sporting events, school programs and band performances, she tried not to miss a single event. She was a friend to many, maintaining several friendships from her youth. Her social calendar was filled with visits and lunchtime gatherings, nurturing those lifelong friendships, and she was never too busy for a phone call or text.

Her family wishes to thank Dr. Bibas Reddy and the staff at the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders for the excellent care they provided her for many years as she battled cancer. Their superior care gave us several more years to love and cherish time with our mom and grandma, and for that, we are extremely grateful.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her name to: Angels 2 the Rescue, the American Cancer Society, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, or a charity of your choice.
