Robert was born Jan. 24, 1925, in Wilmot, Ark. He moved to Southern California as a teenager. He married his high school youth group sweetheart, Doris Parker. Upon graduation from Biola University, they went to the mission field, serving under the Sudan Interior Mission in Nigeria in West Africa, for 20 years. He served the Hausa tribe in northern Nigeria by planting churches, physically built and started schools, and became the president of Titcome College. His medical work focused on providing general medical and maternity services that helped reduce infant mortality through the dispensaries and infirmaries they built. Upon returning from the mission field, his family moved to Huntington Beach, Calif. He worked 15 years for the Los Angeles County Social Services as an appeals worker and welfare fraud investigator. In 1985, he moved to Grass Valley, Calif., where he served on the pastoral staff of Calvary Bible Church for almost 20 years. His passion and love were with the mission program and outreach of the church. Over 10 years ago, he moved to Crowley to be closer to family.
