Rebecca “Becky” Whitfield Riley, 76, passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2024. Becky was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, whose warmth, kindness, and delicious desserts left a lasting impact on everyone she met.
Born on December 3, 1947, in Crestwood, Kentucky, Becky was the daughter of Thomas and Bernice Whitfield. She graduated from Oldham County High School before attending Western Kentucky University for two years, later transferring to the University of Kentucky. She earned her degree in physical therapy and worked as a physical therapist at a rehab facility in Lexington, specializing in the care of children and young adults with spinal injuries. Marriage took her to Okinawa and then to Gainesville, Florida, where she shifted her focus to raising her two sons, Aaron and Chad, and later, her cherished grandchildren, Camryn, Madison, and Charlotte.
Becky moved to Fort Worth in 2003 to be closer to family. She enjoyed experimenting with new recipes and was known for bringing batches of homemade cookies and other desserts to family gatherings. Becky became a regular at the local YMCA, where she formed a supportive and close-knit community of friends.
Becky is preceded in death by her father, Thomas Whitfield; her mother, Bernice Whitfield; and her sister, Susan Fridlington. She is survived by her sons, Aaron and Chad; her daughter-in-law, Robyn; her grandchildren, Camryn, Madison, and Charlotte; her cousin, Claudia Oakes; and her nieces Amanda, Emily, and Julie, along with their families.
Becky’s legacy of love and generosity will be fondly remembered by all who knew her. She will be deeply missed.
