Pervis James Bookman, Sr. was born on November 17, 1930 in Newberry, South Carolina to Luvenia and Purvis Bookman. He was one of eight children.
Pervis graduated from high school and entered the United States Air Force in 1951. He was stationed at Carswell Air Force Base when he met the love of his life, Bernice Randle. Pervis was a Korean War Veteran and Honorably served his Country for 20 years. They finally settled in Texas in 1971. To this union five children were both.
Pervis was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice; both of his parents and three siblings.
Pervis and Bernice set a standard for marriage with 63 years. Pervis was a good son, brother, husband, father and grandfather. He was a great provider for his family and was always present in his kids and grandkids lives providing advice and guidance. He was retired for 53 years and loved his life.
Those left to cherish sweet memories are his children, Pervis Bookman, Jr., Janice Forte (Allen), Teresa Rowe (John) and David Bookman (Felecia); his brothers, Thomas Nathaniel Bookman and Joseph Bookman; his sisters, Teaner Billups and Bernice Bookman; 12 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and a host of family and friends
