Wichita Falls, Texas- It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Paul James Peeples, a man known for his unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. He departed this world at the age of 93, on November 20, 2024.
Born on February 25, 1931, to Paul Warren Peeples and Opal Peeples, in Dayton, Wisconsin, Jim, as he was affectionally called by his family, learned hard work and integrity while a young boy on the family dairy farm. From an early age, he embraced his faith in the Lord, and it became a guiding light in his life. He approached every task with unwavering determination, instilling in his children and grandchildren the importance of dedication and perseverance.
Paul was long remembered by those who faced him in the sports arena. Voted “most athletic” by his classmates, he hit numerous home runs off future MLB pitcher Ryne Duren and rose to the position of coach for the Golden Gloves of America. Paul enlisted in the Air Force during the Korean War and was stationed at San Marcos Air Force Base in San Marcos, Texas. Sergeant Peeples worked as an electrical engineer and learned what would be his lifelong profession. It was during his time there that he met and married the love of his life, Mary Alice Snellings-Peeples. It was through Mary that Paul came to stay in Texas. They shared 58 years of marriage before Mary’s passing in 2010. He and Mary purchased a parcel of land and enjoyed years of beautifying this family acreage as Paul relived his boyhood memories of farming. His career at Ling-Temco-Vought Corporation (LTV) was noted for his diligence and distinguished by his development of the trouble-shooting systems for the M270 Multiple Rocket Launch System, used extensively in the Persian Gulf and Iraq Wars.
Paul weathered life’s challenges with courage and prayer. Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we find solace in the knowledge that Paul’s spirit will forever live on within us. We will carry his value of faithfulness in our hearts and strive to honor his memory through our actions.
Paul James Peeples was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Opal Peeples, his loving wife, Mary Alice Peeples, his brothers Cleon Dale and wife, Iris and Reverend Robert Peeples.
