Michael Thomas Whitaker was born April 1, 1951, to Tom and Mary Whitaker in Emporia, Kan. He graduated from Reading High School in Reading, Kan., then went to Emporia State University in Emporia, graduating with a B.S. in business.
Mike went to work for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway as a consulting systems developer for technology services being employed there for over 30 years.
Mike was raised in the Catholic faith attending various Catholic churches in Kansas and Texas and was currently a member of Gateway Church in Southlake. He married Catherine Brooke on Oct. 23, 1981, in Topeka, Kan. His love of family caused him to trace both the Whitaker and Brooke family roots. He compiled several volumes of detailed family information for all to reference. Mike also enjoyed volunteering through out his life in both Topeka and Fort Worth, specifically with the Topeka Performing Arts Center and the Treasures of the Czars exhibit in Topeka, as well as the Bass Performance Hall in Fort Worth.
Mr. Whitaker was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Frances Whitaker, and uncle, Charlie Whitaker.
Survivors: Spouse, Catherine Whitaker; daughters, Kellie Whitaker, Kristen Whitaker; son, Kevin Whitaker, all of Keller; father, Tom Whitaker of Reading, Kan.; sisters, Mary Ann Livingston of Emporia, Kan., Kate Whitaker of Lenexa, Kan., Pat Whitaker of Emporia; brother, Harry Whitaker of Reading; many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles and cousins.
