Mike was born under difficult circumstances and came into this world with a quiet resolve which he would carry for the rest of his life. Mike’s parents and family were told by doctors that he would never be able to do the things other children could do but no one told Mike. Mike enjoyed playing outside especially with his friends. Mike really enjoyed the pickup games of tackle football put together by friends in the neighborhood. Even with Mike’s medical issues to include being medically blind, Mike would still be in the middle of the games getting tackled, tackling, catching, and throwing with his extremely strong good arm. Mike just wanted to play and play well he did. Mike was able to learn and to ride a bicycle. Mike would go ride with his friends for hours at a time which allowed him to move around and have the freedom his body would not give him. Another favorite of Mike’s would be to go swimming right after school until the sun went down. All of these were great physical therapy things but to Mike they were just fun and what he wanted to do. Mike was a very organized person who always kept his clothes neat and clean along with his room. Mike enjoyed school and maintained his grades while keeping up with his work at all times. Mike was a graduate of C.F. Brewer High School.
Mike lived on his own several times in his life with the help of his family especially his beloved Mother. Mike was extremely loyal to all his family, who he adored. Mike kept his family up to date on all the latest sports scores and movies so that they did not have to. Mike loved to FaceTime his sister Michelle at work and interact with her students and co-workers. Mike always asked about his family and if there was anyone upset at other family members Mike would always be in the middle of being the peacemaker. Mike loved his family so much. Mike’s favorite thing to do later in life was to watch his favorite team the Dallas Cowboys especially with his family. Mike could get very passionate about the state of his teams especially the Cowboy’s. Mike had so many physical and mental hurdles thrown at him, but he never complained. Mike had a love of animals. Mike was a very positive and caring person. Mike would always do anything he could to help anyone he could. This caused a few problems for Mike over the years, but he just kept pushing along.
