Margaret Ann Laws, 89, was born in Johnson City, Tennessee June 27th, 1933, to John Ralph Taylor, Sr., and wife, Hazel, passed away peacefully November 1st, 2022 at Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas. To all of us, she was more commonly known as Gurnie, GG, and Aunt Bob.
She had a full-time job where she stayed home and raised six wonderful children, all while never having a driver’s license! Her door was always open for friends and family. You would often find her cooking up a feast, and when asked what the secret ingredient was, the answer was simple – LOVE. Sometimes, you could tell who her favorite person was simply by the special treat she prepared followed by a stern “don’t you eat any of that because it’s for” followed by a name. It was a delight to be invited for breakfast at her house as you knew her famous biscuits and gravy were sure to be on the menu. Sometimes, Margaret and Luchen, her husband of 47 years, would squabble over whose gravy was better. Afterwards, you might be invited to join in on a friendly game of cards. Although no one could figure out how she did it, but Margaret always found a sneaky way to win! She loved reading a good mystery novel or working her crossword puzzles. She had a very special love and affection for all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Always after a conversation or visit, she never failed to tell them “I love you a bushel and peck and a hug around the neck”.
She was exuberant, lovely, and a joy to be around. She had a “majorette” feel where she loved a new outfit, shoes and purse and made sure to find time for a fine manicure and pedicure. Her smile was contagious, and it was easy for one to gravitate to her for an enjoyable and memorable conversation. Margaret made sure to check in on you from time to time to see how you were doing. Margaret’s words were always kind and sincere and she cared deeply for all her family.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, John Ralph Taylor, Sr. and Hazel Taylor, her loving husband of 47 years, Luchen Earnest “Pap-Pap” Laws, brothers June Taylor (John Jr.), Jack Taylor, and Joe Taylor, sons Tony Laws, Dennis “Denny” Laws, and granddaughter Audra Nicole Smith.
Margaret is survived by sons Terry Laws and wife, Nancy, Steve Laws and wife Sheryl and daughters Teresa Laws, and Kim Kamp and husband Mark , daughter-in-law Kim Laws; grandchildren Lindsay Wagner and husband, Douglas, Taylor McCasland and husband, Layne, Lance Laws and wife, Cara, Bryce Laws and wife, Brittany, Barrett Laws, step-grandchildren Veronica Arges, Jeffrey Collins, Sarah Johnson and husband Jarvis, Marilyn Kamp; great-grandchildren Erin, Josh, and Abby Smith, Cadence and Lawson Wagner, Peyton and Rip Laws, Brody Laws, step great-grandchildren Devin Arges-James and Jayden Arges, Natalie and Aubrey Johnson, and Otto Kamp-Cantu, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
