Lyda Erin Beard

Lyda was born to Jack and Helen Clements, February 25, 1925, in Houston, Texas. At age 18, she joined the American Red Cross Motor Corps, driving ambulances. At 21, she graduated from the Corpus Christi School of Nursing. In 1945, she married Otis Byron Beard who was serving in the Navy. Together they raised four sons, Byron Patrick, Michael Aaron, William Duane and Charles Stephen. They were married for 50 years.

Lyda was a member of St. Timothy Catholic Church and an Associate of the Sisters of the Holy Nativity. She was also a member of the Guild of All Souls and the Confraternity of the Blessed Sacrament.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Byron Beard; son, William “Bill" Duane Beard; and sister, Tiny Groda.

She is survived by her sons, Byron Patrick and wife Linda Beard of Arkansas, Michael Aaron and wife Sharon Beard of Odessa and Charles Stephen Beard of Fort Worth; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and other family members and friends who will cherish her memory.

A Graveside Ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, January 19, at 1:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa, Texas. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, consideration is given to a charity of your choice.
