She was born on January 25, 1930 in Lamesa, Texas. Her parents were Jones Beacham Barron and Erma Gracia Snell Barron. She grew up on the farm in the Midway community. The family were members of the Midway Baptist Church. She graduated high school in 1947.
Linnie married James Ray Hancock December 17, 1946. Together they had six children between 1949 and 1957. They divorced in 1960. They moved to Fort Worth in 1956 and Linnie lived there permanently until the time of her death except for seven years when she returned to Lamesa to care for her mother after the death of her father.
Linnie worked for the Tarrant County ISD, Broadway Baptist Church, Doughtery Brothers, and ended her work life as a substitute secretary/clerk with TCISD. She loved her co-workers, and many were life-long friends. She and her children were members of Gambrell Street Baptist Church for many years. At the time she could no long attend church in person, she was attending Wedgewood Baptist Church.
She loved playing 42 whether it was with her three sons-in-law or her church group, she was very competitive. She loved time with her family, especially when the grandkids and great grandkids came along. Fun Fridays were her favorite days.
Preceding her in death were her parents; three brothers, Virgil, Robert, and Ross Barron; two sisters, Barbara Barkowsky and Sue Corley; one sister-in-law, Linda Barron; and three brothers-in-law, Bo Barkowsky, Joe Dean and Johnny Key.
She is survived by her six children and their families. Her sons Lex Hancock and David Hancock of Fort Worth and Russ Hancock of Pflugerville. Her daughters Venita (J.D.) Faircloth of Frisco, Joni (Clyde) Cottongame of Dawson, and Ruth (Bob) Montgomery of Burleson. Her grandchildren Amy (Jesse) Lopez of Mayfield, Kentucky, Misty Smith of Kankalee, Illinois, Angie (Robert) Harris of Andrews, Luke Hancock of Fort Worth, James (Shara) Faircloth of Prosper, Seth Cottongame of Whitney, Benjamin (Kim) of Dawson, Linda Montgomery of Boyd, Greg (Tiffany) Montgomery of Colleyville, Aaron (Jeanna Heath) Hancock of Pflugerville, Jeremy Hancock of Fort Worth and Derek Hancock of Fort Worth. Her great grandchildren Jaime Lopez of Mayfield, Kentucky, Jazmine Lopez of Los Angeles, California, Jacquilyn (Dylan)Smith of West Warwick, Rhode Island, Gabriella Lopez of Mayfield, Kentucky, Grace Lopez Encinitas, California, Kenneth (Jessica) Faircloth of McKinney, Kylie (Adan) Marmolejo of Lubbock, Matthew Farrington of Athens, Matthew Beck of Burleson, Dillon Cottongame of Dawson, Levi Cottongame of Whitney, Tucker Faircloth of Prosper, Aidan Montgomery of Colleyville, Finley Faircloth of Prosper, Jonah Cottongame of Whitney, and Sophia Montgomery of Colleyville. Her great great grandchildren Andrew, Bryson, Kelbie, and Aaron Faircloth, Kaela Farrington of Athens, and Mia Marmolejo of Lubbock. Her three sisters, Clara Dean of Andrews, Grace Key of Slaton, and Elaine (Kenneth) Huse of Midland.
