Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, husband Kenneth Cypert, son Ken David Cypert, three brothers, and three sisters.
Joyce is survived by loved ones: Daughter Carol Fernihough, Son James Cypert, Sister Wanda Hestilow, Sister-in-law Doris (Glenn) Mash. Grandchildren: Michael (Mandy) Fernihough, Daniel (Summer) Fernihough, Lisa (Rick) Herbin, Emily (Jonathan) Fowler, and Austin Cypert. Joyce is also survived by nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Joyce grew up as a bit of a tomboy. She preferred to follow her daddy around learning from him. She lettered in basketball keeping her letter jacket and softball mitt. Joyce lived in Irene, TX as a teen and attended the Baptist church there. She shared the story of how there was a Methodist church and Church of Christ church in Irene, and at times the three churches took turns sharing a building. She was baptized in the Church of Christ baptistry. She met Kenneth while she was working in Hillsboro Tx. They married in 1949 and celebrated their sixty-sixth wedding anniversary prior to his death in 2015. Joyce was an excellent seamstress making clothes for herself and her daughter progressing from doll clothes to a wedding dress.
She loved animals and cared for each one her family brought home, and there were a lot.. Joyce enjoyed being a leader to a group of BlueBirds, driving boys to Scouts, sports, or fishing. She loved to talk and never met a stranger. Joyce and Kenneth loved old gospel hymns and spent many hours watching Gaither videos. Joyce and Kenneth suffered a great loss when their son died of cancer. A few short years later, she lost the love of her life, Kenneth, but continued to talk to and kiss his picture. She could still be heard talking to him while she was declining in the hospital.
Joyce not only loved her immediate family, but was an excellent caregiver to her parents along with her siblings. She also cared for her older brothers, sisters, and in-laws as they grew older. She loved being a grandmother and great grandmother and was always interested in what they were doing.Joyce had a great smile and a very big heart.
