Joanie was born on April 11, 1957 in Cleburne Texas to Jerry and Phyllis Mabry. She grew up in both Burleson and Briaroaks Texas. She graduated from Burleson High School in 1975. She loved spending time with her best friend Carlene and working at a local pizza restaurant.
She was married to Sterling in 1979 and they were blessed with two children during their marriage: Alisen and Hillary.
She worked at Living Water Daycare from 1993 until she retired in 2021. Joanie loved her daycare children very much. She was an avid reader of Karen Kingsbury books and an active member of her church in Arlington Tx. Her hobbies included teaching children’s ministries, spending time with her grandchildren, reading, collecting I Love Lucy memorabilia, watching Law and Order SVU, getting her nails painted a bright color, and of course driving around in her red mustang.
Joanie is survived by her father Jerry Mabry, daughters Alisen Bradshaw and Hillary King. Grandchildren Timothy (or TJ as we call him), Martin, Amelia and Cameron. Brother James Mabry, his three children Jennifer, Joel and Michael. Son in law Chris, Daughter in laws Rebecca and Tabitha, grandchildren Jewel, Junior, Zeek and Darla. Best friend Carlene, Aunt and Uncle Roy and Carol Mabry, daughter Anissa, granddaughters Aynslee and Kenslee. Cousins, Greg and Carla, daughters Kristina and Brandi, son in law Danny, grandchildren Angie, Kody, Bri, Hailey, Ashley, Zoe, Johnny and great grandchildren Remy and Morgan. Bob and Mary, their children Stephanie, Robbie, Nikki, and their grandchildren. And last but not least, her beloved fur companion Fred.
Joanie is preceded in death by her mother Phyllis Mabry, her sister in law Darla Mabry, grandparents Lindell and Jewel Bain., and Grace Moorehead
She will be remembered for her infectious laugh, her desire for never letting her disability define her and how she always had a smile on her face, and a love for God in her heart.
Visitation will be held on Monday July 25, 2022 from 6-8pm and her funeral service will be on Tuesday July 26th 11:00am at the Shannon Funeral Chapel in Watauga Tx on Rufe Snow Drive followed by a private family burial.
