Juerrine Jayne Bingham, age 101, peacefully passed away October 09, 2024, in San Antonio, Texas. She is now in the arms of her Heavenly Father, whom she worshipped. She was known to her family and friends as Mama Jayne.
Jayne was born to Glenn and Carrye Cathcart in Fort Worth, Texas. She lived with her older brother Glenn, Jr., and younger sisters, Zoe Anne and Carolyn. After graduating from the second class of Arlington Heights High School, she majored in Home Economics at North Texas Agriculture College (NTAC) which is now the University of Texas at Arlington. At NTAC she met Frank Graves Bingham, Jr. and they married on April 24, 1942. In early 1943 Frank was deployed to the European Theater prior to their daughter’s birth. Jayne and daughter, Sherry, lived with Jayne’s parents until Frank returned 2-1/2 years later. During the course of the next few years, Frank and Jayne gave birth to two sons, Glenn and Teri.
Jayne was a wonderful, dedicated wife and mother wherever they lived. She made every house a loving home. Jayne moved fourteen times during their marriage and shouldered the responsibility of raising the three children when Frank was stationed on isolated tours of duty. Her favorite location was Chateauroux, France. During those three years, Jayne loved traveling and antiquing. She made their attic apartment of a 1750’s chateau a home.
Frank and Jayne moved to Lubbock, Texas prior to him serving his last tour in Thailand during the Vietnam War. After his retirement they made their home in Lubbock for ten years until they built their dream home in Llano, Texas. There they remained for twelve years before moving back to Fort Worth, Texas.
Jayne’s heart was filled with love for her family of children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren. She enjoyed gourmet cooking, entertaining, reading her Bible, sewing for her grandchildren and doing intricate cross stitch and needlepoint. Her family benefitted from her amazing creations. As the matriarch of the family, she was especially proud of the fine Christian men and women she watched mature.
Jayne is survived by her daughter, Sherry Curnutt; sons, Glenn Bingham and wife, Gayla; Teri Bingham and wife Pauline Guild; grandchildren, Casey Curnutt and wife, Mindi; Cris Daskevich and husband, Phillip; Jennifer Hampton and husband Greg; Mychael Bingham and wife Holly; Avery Bingham and wife Frances.
