Jay served on the Fort Worth Police Department for 28 years and was a longtime resident of Springtown. After retiring, he co-owned Mooneyham Brothers Furniture, where he enjoyed building outdoor furniture with his brother. Faith and family were most important to Jay. He enjoyed the outdoors, including hunting, fishing and golf. He was a prize-winning chute-dogger in his early years, and enjoyed watching rodeos in his later years.
Jay is survived by his wife Sherri Vaughan Mooneyham; sons Michael and wife Lisa, Justin and wife Ashley and Douglas and wife Audrey; brother Jerry and wife Kathy; grandchildren Samantha, Maddox, Addison, Douglas James Jr., Decker Jay, and another grandson on the way. He is also survived by his nieces and in-laws, that loved him dearly. The family is forever grateful for his caregiver, Franie Anderson.
