Jamie Lee Brown, affectionately known as “Jay”, was born on November 24, 1965. He blessed the union of Bertha Mae and Louis Lee Brown, while also stepping into his role as ‘Big Brother’ to LaNay Brown, whom he called “His Baby Brownie”.
Jamie received his early education at Alta Loma Elementary and Mount Vernon Junior High, before graduating from Los Angeles High School. By attending vocational school, he gained employment at Cedar Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA, where he worked in the Maintenance Department for several years.
Later in life, Jamie found his passion! He had always desired a career where he could travel and experience new people and places, so he set out to explore his options. After pursuing and attaining his Commercial Truck Driving License, he held several positions at various trucking companies in different cities and states. His heart eventually settled in Texas, mostly because it was the hometown to his favorite football team- the Dallas “Cowboys”. Jamie was such a loyal fan! After a big win for his team, he was infamous for calling his buddies and asking them “What up with dem Boys?” knowing full well that they had just won! Those phone calls will be truly missed.
Jamie was an incredibly hard-worker! He was known to work long shifts, and was always open to covering shifts for his co-workers on his off days. He gained employment with Parkway Transport, Inc., also known as H-E-B, where he was blessed to work for 13 years. During that time, he was awarded several certifications and had received many honorary mentions. Jamie cherished the relationships and bonds he formed with his colleagues, the H-E-B Staff, and the clients he met on his delivery routes. He always spoke of his appreciation and the enjoyment he found in working for Parkway Transport, Inc. (H-E-B). He often shared that they were like family to him.
Jamie came to know Christ as his personal Lord & Savior by dedicating his life to God approximately 30 years ago. He cherished his relationship with God and he took it very seriously. While living in Texas, he worshiped and fellowshipped at Turning Point Church, where he also volunteered his time by serving as a Cameraman in their Media Department.
On October 6, 2006, Jamie wedded Anita in Holy matrimony. Throughout their marriage, he was a devoted, God-fearing husband and provided for his family. He encouraged her to strengthen her relationship with Christ, and together- they worked to spread the word of God. She preceded him in death in 2018.
On September 25, 2024, Jamie was called from labor to reward. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Bertha Mae and Louis Lee Brown; his sisters, LaNay Brown and Shirley Lee Ervin; and his Uncle, Clyde Jenkins II.
Jamie leaves to cherish his memory: his nieces and nephew, LaTanya Ervin, LaTasha Evans, Ashlee Brown and LaTeef Gray; cousin, Clyde Jenkins III (Crystal); his God sisters, Lotrece Hamilton (Derrick) and LaDawn Reed; as well as a host of great-nieces and nephews, extended relatives, loves ones, and many cherished friends.
HE WILL BE GREATLY MISSED, BUT HIS LIFE
WILL CONTINUE TO BE CELEBRATED BY THOSE HE LOVED.
