Hoyt Thomas Fincher Jr., age 86 died January 9, 2021. Hoyt was born on October 23, 1934 in Fort Worth TX to parents Hoyt (Jack) Thomas Fincher Sr. and Clarabelle Holt Fincher. He was a graduate of Burleson High School Class of 53.
Hoyt was a great brother, wonderful husband, loving father and loyal friend to all. He married his high school sweetheart in 1959 at Oak Groove Baptist Church and the couple had a daughter Lisa in 1971. The family resided in Burleson for 45 years before moving to the Eagle Mountain area of Tarrant County.
His early years were spent in the family feed mill and store. Followed by a tour in the U.S Army. After his return from duty, he joined the family in their retail western stores. Hoyt and his brother C.B. enjoyed many years of operating the western stores with their spouses and children. Until his passing Hoyt with his wife and daughter successfully operate Fincher’s White Front Store in the Fort Worth Stockyards. He cherished the countless memories and adventures with the personalities of the western industry.
His great love of fishing lead to many accomplishments from fishing in the first Bassmaster Tournament, numerous Tv and newspaper appearances, being the last continuous contestant of the Texas State Bass Tournament since its starting in 1955 and an inductee of their Hall of Fame. His fishing adventures took Hoyt from the most Northern parts of North America all
the way to the rain forest of South America. His pursuit for a World Record Peacock Bass lead to 34 years of fishing and residing on the Amazon and Rio Negro Rivers of Brazil.
Hoyt is survived by his wife of 62 years Betty Key Fincher, his daughter Lisa Dolores Fincher and his grandson Fincher Warren Pierce of Fort Worth Tx. And, by his Brother C.B. Fincher and wife Elizabeth, his Sister Jeannie Bransom and many nieces and nephews.
All are welcome to celebrate Hoyt Fincher’s Exceptional Life Monday January 18, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Billy Bob’s Texas.
