Horace M. Young, Jr. who was affectionately called “Junior” by his family,was born on September 29, 1946 in Springfield, OH to Horace Sr. and Mildred Young. Horace was the sixth of seven children born to this union.
One of the many milestones in Horace’s life was his time serving our Country in the United States Army. On July 25, 1981, Horace married Janet Watkins of St. Louis, MO. Horace’s pride and joy was his two children; Alysia and Keith, along with his grandchildren, Brittni, Oliver and Ruby. Horace loved his family and enjoyed traveling to spend time with them.
Horace was a lover of Christ and the people of God. He was fond of studying God’s Word and faithfully served as a Deacon at The Chosen Vessel Cathedral of Fort Worth. He was very competitive and enjoyed playing tennis, racquetball, bowling and especially golf. His love for sports and people carried over to his coaching a local women’s basketball team and occasionally refereeing area volleyball leagues.
Horace was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Horace Sr. and Mildred Young,and sisters, Shirley Johnson and Sharon Daniels. He departed this life and entered into his Master’s Joy on May 11, 2022.
Horace leaves those who will celebrate the memory of his life and carry on his legacy to include his loving wife Janet of 40 years; his beloved children, Alysia and Keith (Vivianne Marie) of St. Louis, MO; grandchildren, Brittni, Oliver and Ruby; siblings, Richard E. (Arlene) of Arlington, TX., Ronald (Rose) of Cherry Hill, NJ., Judith (David) Sanders of DeSoto TX. and Denise Lewis of Bel Air, MD; along with a host of devoted family and friends.
