Deacon Eddie James Thomas Jr. was the first born of eleven children to the late Elder Eddie James Sr. and Alberta Thomas in Jonestown, Mississippi on June 6, 1941. Affectionately known by his family as 'June', he attended the Quitman County public school system and accepted Christ at an early age.
Eddie developed a love for music and gospel singing and gravitated to the lead guitar. He was the church musician and also played for several quartet groups. He had a unique style of playing using the cross-spanish method. He continued singing gospel songs and picking his guitar for many years until his health would not allow him to continue.
In 1964 Eddie married the love of his life, Willie Ann Clark of Minter City, Mississippi. To this union God blessed them with seven children. Eddie and Willie Ann later relocated to Drew, Mississippi where he was employed by Farm Power until they closed their doors many years later. He was later employed by the Drew Separate School District as a bus driver until he retired. He was a hard worker who not only provided for his family but also did whatever he could to help his neighbors and anyone who needed help. If it was repairing their broken car, plumbing or completing repairs to their home, he was skillful in his craft. When asked what do I owe you, his reply would always be, "whatever you give me". He was a selfless and humble man who loved hunting, fishing, gardening and cook.
