Dorothy was born in 1934 in Scotland Texas to Frank and Katie Luig. She was one of 6 children. She was the sole survivor of her birth family prior her death. She married Lloyd Frank Scheffe in 1952. Lloyd died in 1983, and she remained a widow, until her death. They had 7 children. She was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd, and children, Michael, Danny, and Kenneth Scheffe. She is survived by her children Diane (Joe) Mamrus, Denise Berry, Lisa Couch, and Duane (Nancy) Scheffe, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Dorothy worked for the US postal service, till she retired, after having worked prior to that as a seamstress for years. She was always a hard worker and a valued employee. She loved gardening, especially after retiring. At one time, she received the NRH lawn of the month award, which really made her proud. She was actually on a local news channel once, being interviewed about her opinion about a highway expansion near her home, and the reporter mentioned her beautiful yard in the interview and the comment made it on the air. She was a devout Catholic, attending mass faithfully every week, till her health started failing. She was a devoted mother and provider for her family. She was a kind and pleasant woman who will be sorely missed by family and friends, but we have faith that she is in a better place with our Savior Jesus Christ.
