Delores Ann Griffith, aged 87, died peacefully on April 26, 2017 at the Riverhills Health and Rehab Center in Kerrville, TX after an extended struggle with polio and its associated complications. Delores was born January 27, 1930, in Savoy, Texas, the daughter of John Raymond Large and Bonnie Lee Guffee.
Delores was an outgoing and vivacious individual, who loved sharing life with family and friends. Despite contracting Polio at age 12, she led a fully independent and rewarding life. Among her many interests were a love of travel, writing poetry, and genealogy. She visited all 50 states and numerous foreign countries, and her genealogical research concluded with her approved membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution. Delores graduated from East Texas State Teacher's College with a Master's Degree in education in 1951.
In 1950, Delores married the love of her life, Dan L. Griffith, Sr, and they remained united for 60 years until Dan's passing in 2010. After Dan and Delores graduated from college, they moved to Fort Worth, Texas and started careers with the FW Independent School District, where the both taught for over 30 years. Delores moved to Riverpoint Assisted Living center in Kerrville, TX in 2011.
Delores was an active member of the Altamesa Church of Christ in Fort Worth. Service: 2:00 pm Wednesday May 3, 2017 at Laurel Land Chapel of Chimes. Visitation: 1 pm hour prior to service. Interment: Laurel Land Memorial Park.
