Dan was born in Alexander, TX on September 28, 1926, the 4th of 6 children. After graduating from Carter Riverside High School, on February 16, 1945 Dan was recruited to serve his country in World War II. When he returned from the Army, he moved in with his older sister, Bettie, and began work at Texas Electric on November 10, 1950. When Dan was not working, he enjoyed bowling with friends and co-workers, where he met his wife, Edith. They married on February 25, 1955, and celebrated their 65th anniversary before losing her on October 10, 2019.
Dan retired from TXU on August 30, 1987. While working and throughout his retirement, he had many interests including bowling, golfing, and cattle ranching. Almost every day, Dan was doing something, whether it was feeding cows, cutting and bailing hay, visiting with friends for breakfast at the golf club, or going to bowl every Monday night. Dan was always doing something to stay busy and active. He also loved his history and remembered dates better than the average person.
Dan is preceded in death by his wife, Edith Farrar. He is also preceded in death by his parents Robert and Etta Farrar, one brother Robert Jordan Farrar and sisters Bettie Jo McMackin and Peggy Crawford. Dan is survived by his son Marcus and his wife Kay of Aledo; his granddaughter, Kelly of Fort Worth; his grandson Klinton of Dallas and his wife Melanie, with their three beautiful children.
He is also survived by his sisters Maurine Beene of Fort Worth, TX and Reta Peel of Bedford, TX, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A visitation for Dan will be held Thursday, April 20, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at 9651 - Laurel Land FH - Ft Worth, 7100 CROWLEY RD, FORT WORTH, TX 76134, followed by a graveside service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
